PARIS, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — With a product lineup ranging from dried fruit and frozen foods to sauces and canned goods, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica (PROCOMER) and 18 Costa Rican companies are pursuing new business opportunities with international buyers at SIAL Paris 2026. Their participation aims to expand the Costa Rican food industry’s reach across European markets.

Held October 17–21 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center in France, the trade show brings together more than 8,000 exhibitors and 295,000 industry professionals, including manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and buyers. The event provides an opportunity to showcase Costa Rican products to companies serving a wide range of markets and distribution channels.

“To expand our presence in international markets, we need to turn product innovation into higher-value exports that meet evolving consumer needs. At PROCOMER, we work to connect that capacity for innovation with business opportunities. SIAL Paris helps us introduce distinctive products to international buyers and translate advances in our food industry into new business,” said Laura López, CEO of PROCOMER.

At the essential COSTA RICA booth, the delegation is showcasing how ingredients such as pineapple, banana, cassava and plantain are transformed into food products in a variety of formats and for different uses. The selection includes frozen and dried fruit, precooked cassava, tostones, flours, hot sauces, canned fish, juices, fruit purees, coffee, cocoa and bottled coconut water.

Throughout the five-day event, participating companies are holding business meetings and introducing their products to prospective buyers. A chef and a barista are also leading demonstrations that highlight the qualities of Costa Rican products and the many ways they can be used. These cooking demonstrations and tastings give buyers firsthand experience with the products and help advance business discussions.

According to PROCOMER data, Costa Rica’s food industry exports totaled $1.938 billion between January and August 2026, an 8% increase over the same period in 2025.

Beyond connecting with prospective customers, SIAL Paris gives companies an opportunity to meet with existing buyers and explore international trends. These direct exchanges provide insights that help companies refine their commercial strategies and guide product development toward specific market opportunities, supporting PROCOMER’s efforts to expand the Costa Rican food industry’s international reach.

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

BARCELONA, Spain, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mobility thinker Lukas Neckermann, Spain’s Secretary General for Innovation Teresa Riesgo and Axel Volkery, from the European Commission’s DG MOVE, will be among the headline speakers at Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC), to be held from 3-5 November at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. Co-organised by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union, the congress will bring together more than 240 experts from cities, governments and companies to accelerate the shift to sustainable urban mobility.

Neckermann, who coined the term “The Mobility Revolution” with his first book, is co-founder of the Urban Places Lab and author of four books. Teresa Riesgo, Secretary General for Innovation at the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and President of the CDTI, will join a roundtable on how mobility innovators can navigate an era of uncertainty. Axel Volkery, Head of the Innovation and Urban Mobility unit at DG MOVE, will discuss how public transport must evolve with changing user habits to remain attractive, accessible and relevant.

Other confirmed speakers include Daryl Barron, Lord Mayor of Dublin; Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS; Lisandro Perotti, Undersecretary for Mobility Management and Control of Buenos Aires; Toks Omishakin, Secretary of the California State Transportation Agency; and Tanja Dik, CEO of the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Public transport, the backbone of the daily commuteA survey by EIT Urban Mobility among 1,503 adults in Barcelona, Munich and Bucharest places public transport at the heart of urban life: 56% of respondents use it to commute to work or study, ahead of car-based transport (52%), and those who do are twice as likely to include walking in their journey. Safety, reliability and comfort are what commuters value most.

The largest gaps between what commuters value and what they experience concern traffic density for car users and service reliability for public transport, and more than two in five respondents (41%) say they feel completely drained when they arrive home. The challenge for cities, and for the congress, is to share knowledge and explore innovative solutions for more liveable cities.

BEIJING, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — A news report from China Daily.

The Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2026 opened on Monday in Beijing, bringing together more than 400 distinguished guests from around the world.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Building an Open Collaborative and Inclusive Ecosystem for Global Financial Development”.

When formulating the theme, the main consideration was that changes unseen in a century are accelerating across the globe; the world economy and global financial operations are confronted with challenges, Zeng Linfeng, executive secretary-general of the secretariat of the annual conference’s organizing committee and acting head of Beijing’s Xicheng district, said at a news conference prior to the forum.

“There is an urgent need to build consensus through openness, overcome difficulties via cooperation, and seek common ground while embracing differences with inclusiveness,” Zeng said.

“This year’s annual conference calls for more efforts to better coordinate financial development and security, expand development space through opening-up, step up systemic resilience through cooperation, and deliver mutual benefits and win-win outcomes through an inclusive approach,” he added.

During the four-day event, a main forum, several parallel forums as well as three conferences on fintech, insurance and investment are set to take place.

The main forum includes opening and closing ceremonies as well as five thematic activities hosted by the People’s Bank of China, the National Financial Regulatory Administration, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xinhua News Agency and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, respectively.

Leaders of the world’s top financial firms such as Standard Chartered and DWS Group will attend the activity of SAFE on Thursday, offering their perspectives on cross-border financial development and cooperation under the new global landscape.

These activities will also discuss topics such as long-term investment opportunities in China’s capital market under two-way opening-up and healthy interactions between the financial market and the real economy.

Adhering to the philosophy of opening-up, parallel forums have invited government officials from home and abroad, along with experts, scholars and representatives of international financial institutions. They will share their insights into two major themes: high-level opening-up of the finance sector and financial support for high-quality economic development, aiming to advance international financial cooperation and create a more open, inclusive and resilient financial environment that serves the real economy.

Quantinuum Breaks Error-Correction World Record by 10x, Validating Its Leading Path to Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing by 2029

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Quantinuum (NASDAQ: QNT), a leading full-stack quantum computing company, today announced a world-record quantum error-correction result, achieving a logical fidelity of 99.9995% on its Helios commercial computer using the company’s error-correction architecture. This marks Quantinuum’s second breakthrough in two months, demonstrating how its highly accurate trapped-ion hardware and flexible architecture work together to deliver rapid improvements in accuracy.

The achievement reinforces Quantinuum’s error-correction leadership and validates that its accuracy performance is now within the target range for Apollo, the company’s planned universal fault-tolerant quantum computer expected to be available by 2029.

Quantinuum’s architecture is an end-to-end framework programmable through the company’s developer platform. It integrates tailored AI decoders, all-to-all qubit connectivity, high-fidelity physical operations, and hardware-level error correction. This architecture also allows the company to test, refine, and combine different error-correction codes and optimize between accuracy and efficiency.

In the latest study, Quantinuum used a well-known ‘color code’ within this architecture to achieve the world-record logical fidelity result, which is equivalent to just five errors per million operations. The error rate is 10 times lower than Quantinuum’s own world record achieved last month and 100 times lower than the best published result across all other hardware modalities, which was reported by Google Quantum AI on a superconducting system.

“With this result, we’ve proven that we have the error-correction architecture and trapped-ion technology required to achieve universal fault-tolerance,” said Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, CEO of Quantinuum. “We have reduced error rates tenfold in rapid succession using a different code on the same commercial hardware, demonstrating the flexibility of our error-correction architecture. We’ve crossed the threshold necessary for exponential improvements in accuracy, reinforcing our path to Apollo and how we can help users unlock commercial value from quantum at scale.”

The study also showed that logical errors fell exponentially as Quantinuum increased the ‘code distance,’ a technique used to understand how many physical qubits are needed to protect quantum information as the error correction scales. Each tested increase reduced the remaining logical errors by a record factor of 12, demonstrating increasingly effective error suppression as the code grows—a critical capability for scaling fault-tolerant quantum computing. Quantinuum believes this result suggests it can deliver fault-tolerance with significantly fewer qubits than are required for other modalities.

“This is a significant milestone that quantum computing researchers have been working toward for many years,” said Robin Blume-Kohout, Co-director of Sandia National Laboratories’ Quantum Performance Lab, who was not involved in the study. “The paper demonstrates real, serious performance gains from quantum error correction—a logical qubit nearly 100x better than its component physical qubits. A scaled-up version of this system could reach the reliability required for useful fault-tolerant computation at a feasible size—less than a million physical qubits—which improves the outlook for practical quantum computing. These findings go a long way to retire one of the field’s central technical risks.”

In September 2026, Quantinuum used the same error-correction architecture with its Helix code to demonstrate record-setting logical memory and computation. Both studies ran on the same Helios hardware.

The two demonstrations illustrate how Quantinuum can rapidly prototype different error-correction codes within the same architecture to optimize for relative strengths in accuracy, efficiency, and speed. On Helios, Helix used 10 physical qubits per logical qubit, compared with up to 37 for the color code, while the color code delivered lower logical error rates. This provides insight into which applications pair best with each code as systems advance toward fault-tolerance.

Quantinuum’s error-correction architecture is flexible, allowing for adaptive syndrome extraction, which adjusts error-checking measurements during computation, and chain-mapping, which connects codes suited to different computational tasks. Together with efficient code structures and real-time decoding, these techniques provide multiple ways to reduce errors and resource requirements.

Quantinuum is combining its hardware, error-correction architecture, and full-stack software platform into an integrated system for fault-tolerant quantum computing. As customers prepare for this next era of computing, Quantinuum is providing the tools needed to develop and scale quantum applications capable of addressing challenges across materials science, chemistry, finance, logistics, and other critical sectors.

PORTO, Portugal, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Athena Technology Solutions, a Fremont, California-based Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) implementation specialist founded in 2011 with about 200 people in the U.S. and India, is expanding into Europe and opens its first European office in Porto.

Porto will host sales, project delivery, customer support and leadership for the European operation. Athena starts with six employees in Portugal, plans to reach 20 within its first year and aims to build a team of 100 within five years. The company aims to secure at least five clients by the end of its fiscal year in December.

“Europe is a natural next step for Athena. MES business happens in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and we need to be where the business is,” said Senthil Ranganathan, Athena founder and CEO. “In Porto, we found the talent to start quickly, a technology ecosystem that fits the industries we serve and our partners within easy reach. This is where our European operation starts, and where it will be run from.”

Sachi Javli, managing director and head of global delivery, leads the European operation. Athena is recruiting project managers, program managers, developers and sales professionals in Portugal and other European markets.

From Porto, Athena provides MES selection, implementation, integration and support, as well as PLM, ERP and Managed Services, to large, multi-site, multinational manufacturers in semiconductors, electronics, medical devices, solar, batteries and other high-tech discrete manufacturing. Its technology partners include Critical Manufacturing, of which it is a Premier Services Partner; Siemens, for which it is an Alliance Partner on the Opcenter MES platform; and Twinzo, as an Authorized Reseller.

Athena will also bring FabOrchestrator.AI™, the agentic AI orchestration layer for manufacturing operations it introduced this year, to European manufacturers.

“Manufacturers don’t invest in an MES for the software. They invest in it to hit their quality, throughput, compliance and performance goals,” said Javli. “With a team in Porto, close to our partners and to the manufacturers we want to serve, and with our delivery centers in India behind us, we are fully capable from day one for any project or proposal.”

Athena may open a satellite office in Germany as the business grows.

P&C Insurers Are Losing to Fragmentation: Hyland for Guidewire Gives Them Back Speed, Scale, and AI Insights

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

CLEVELAND, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The insurance industry is at a tipping point as customer expectations are rising, regulatory requirements are ongoing, and AI is reshaping the competitive landscape. Yet property and casualty (P&C) insurers are still trapped in inefficiency as claims adjusters are left searching across disconnected systems for documents, underwriters are wasting time on manual processes instead of writing business, and billing teams are managing collections without centralized visibility. These fragmented, siloed operations cost time, money, and ultimately customer experience.

This is why Hyland today announced Hyland for Guidewire, a set of ready-to-deploy cloud integrations validated by Guidewire and available on Guidewire Marketplace. These solutions connect the Hyland Content Innovation Cloud™ with Guidewire core insurance applications (Guidewire ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter, and BillingCenter) giving P&C insurers the unified content foundation they need to operate faster, smarter and at scale.

“P&C insurers using Guidewire are modernizing how they operate, but they’re often doing it on fragmented content foundations that ultimately slow their business down,” said Kathy Hrach, vice president of insurance product management at Hyland. “Together with Guidewire, we’re solving this critical gap, empowering insurers with the technology solutions they need without costly and time-consuming content migrations and custom builds. This integration is about removing friction from every step of the claims, underwriting, and billing process so our insurance customers can focus on what matters: making fast, sound decisions and delivering better customer experiences.”

Breaking the Fragmentation Trap

Hyland for Guidewire is a set of pre-built, validated integrations that reduces the time, cost, and complexity of custom development. Using Hyland Content Federation Service, the integration connects OnBase on-premises customers to the Content Innovation Cloud and Guidewire applications, with no content migration required. This gives adjusters, underwriters, and billing teams immediate access to the documents and data they need without leaving the Guidewire interface.

The results are transformational:

Rather than forcing costly, time-consuming content migration, Hyland for Guidewire leverages Content Federation Service to create a unified view of content across systems. Whether insurers are using Hyland OnBase on-premises, in the cloud, or across both environments, Hyland for Guidewire bridges the gap without the burden of content migration.

The Path Forward: Content as Competitive Strategy

For P&C insurers using or considering Guidewire, the message is clear: content infrastructure modernization isn’t optional. It is the foundation of modern insurance operations.

Insurers that consolidate fragmented content, unify access, and build AI-enabled automation will operate faster, spend less, and compete more effectively.

Hyland for Guidewire is available starting today on Guidewire Marketplace. Connect with Hyland at Guidewire Connections, October 26-29, at booth CM-G3.For more information on capabilities, implementation, and how to evaluate fit for your organization, visit Hyland.com.

About Hyland Hyland is a leader in content intelligence and automation, empowering organizations to transform enterprise content into governed intelligence that accelerates decision-making and business performance.
SunPower Origin, SunPower’s New Solar Panel, Launches in Europe with 8th-Generation Back-Contact Technology and a Single 40-Year Warranty

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

Available to SunPower Partners in residential and commercial formats, with first deliveries expected before the end of 2026.

LYON, France, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TCL SunPower Global, a global leader in solar energy solutions, today opened orders across Europe for SunPower Origin, a new solar panel line built on the eighth generation of SunPower’s back-contact cell. SunPower pioneered its back-contact technology four decades ago and has been mass-producing it for more than twenty years. It holds more than 1,600 solar patents and has deployed more than 15 GW of back-contact panels worldwide. SunPower Partners can order Origin now. First deliveries are expected before the end of 2026.

“Back-contact is where solar mass market is heading, but very few companies can manufacture it at scale. We were the first to put it into commercial production, in 2004, and Origin is our eighth generation,” said Steven Zhang, General Manager, TCL SunPower Global. “Previous generations went onto real roofs and taught us something: about micro-cracks, about behaviour in shade, about what happens to a solder joint after twenty summers. That’s what you can’t buy by switching a production line over. Because we know how these cells age, we can put a 40-year warranty on the panel, and the TCL Group’s vertically integrated supply chain and financial strength stand behind it.”

Origin places all electrical contacts on the back of the cell, leaving the front free to collect light. The cells are patterned using lithography rather than laser processing, a method that TCL SunPower says reduces micro-cracks, and are joined by solder that withstands temperatures of up to 220°C. Shade is the hardest test for any panel: a chimney, a vent or a layer of leaves forces current through the shaded cell and heats it. A 54-cell Origin panel behaves as if it had more than 16,000 bypass diodes, so the shaded cell stays below 100°C and the rest of the panel keeps producing. Origin is certified Class A+ for shading resistance by TÜV Rheinland, and its broader spectral response helps output in the morning, the evening and under cloud.

“We describe SunPower Origin as the original, the safest, and the strongest,” said Karin Alberto-Burkhardt, Director PV Product Management, TCL SunPower Global. “Original, because SunPower was the first to industrialize back-contact cell technology in 2004 and has since built one of the industry’s broadest IP portfolios. Origin represents the eighth generation of this technology platform. Safest, because its back-contact architecture is engineered for superior thermal and mechanical reliability, minimizing hot-spot risk under partial shading while maintaining robust cell interconnections over time. Strongest, because the technology is backed by a 40-year warranty from a company with the scale, heritage, and financial strength to stand behind it. With Origin, installers deploy technology proven over decades, not an experiment.”

Across its 15 GW of installed capacity, SunPower reports a warranty return rate of 0.005%, based on an internal claims analysis conducted in June 2026. A study presented at the IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference, drawing on 3.2 million module-years of field data, supports the company’s reported average degradation of less than 0.25% per year. Origin is warranted at that same level, with degradation not exceeding 0.25% per year, and has a temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C.

Origin carries a complete 40-year warranty covering the product, its power output and service. The warranty is supported by SunPower’s legal entities in its main European markets, as well as by the company’s long track record of installing back-contact panels and monitoring their degradation and return rates. It is also backed by the financial strength of the TCL Group. TCL SunPower is recognized as a Tier 1 module manufacturer by BloombergNEF (Q3 2026).

The residential panel has 54 cells in a 1,800 × 1,134 mm frame and delivers up to 505 W at up to 24.7% efficiency, fully black. The commercial panel has 66 cells, measures 2,192 × 1,134 mm and delivers up to 615 W. It is bifacial, with up to 80% bifaciality, collecting reflected light on its rear side, and suits commercial roofs where vents, HVAC units, and corners limit how many panels fit.

COMUNICATO STAMPA – CONTENUTO PROMOZIONALE

DONOSTIA / SAN SEBASTIÁN, Spain, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Viralgen, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy manufacturing, a subsidiary of AskBio, Inc. within the Bayer Group, today announced that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jimmy Vanhove will transition to a new role leading the development and expansion of Bayer’s U.S. Pharmaceutical Product Supply Network based in New Albany, Ohio. In his new position, Jimmy will join the Pharmaceuticals Division’s Product Supply Leadership Team. Angela Ochoa Chico has been appointed as his successor and will join Viralgen as CEO, from her current role at Bayer, effective January 1, 2027. She is an accomplished executive with extensive international leadership experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and operations.

During Jimmy’s four years leading the company, Viralgen has evolved from an emerging contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) into a market-leading AAV-specialist CDMO, supporting gene therapy programs from early development through commercial-scale manufacturing. Over this period, the company expanded its facilities, infrastructure, and process development capabilities, becoming a fully integrated, end-to-end CDMO with a strong portfolio of more than 70 customers and partners worldwide.

This progress has been driven by a strong quality mindset, operational reliability, and continuous improvement, with sustainability integrated into Viralgen’s growth. Throughout, the company has remained focused on its purpose: bringing life-changing gene therapies closer to patients. From supporting gene therapy manufacturing for market-leading global pharmaceutical companies to more than 15 ultra-rare disease foundations, Viralgen remains committed to people living with rare diseases and the families who support them.

Today, Viralgen employs more than 450 professionals in San Sebastián, Spain, and operates one of the world’s largest facilities dedicated to manufacturing AAV-based gene therapies, with integrated capabilities spanning process development, clinical and commercial production, quality control, and fill-finish.

“It has been a privilege to lead Viralgen through this transformative period,” said Jimmy Vanhove. “I am especially proud that, as Viralgen has grown, we have remained committed to people living with both common and rare diseases, as well as the patient foundations that represent them. I am confident that Angela will build on this legacy and lead Viralgen into its next exciting chapter.”

Angela Ochoa Chico brings nearly twenty years of international experience across pharmaceutical operations, quality, manufacturing, strategy, and organizational transformation. She comes to Viralgen from her role as Product Supply Strategy & Excellence Lead at the Pharmaceuticals Division of Bayer where she has helped shape global manufacturing strategy, strengthen organizational capabilities and drive performance across the Product Supply network. Earlier in her career, she led manufacturing and quality organizations in Mexico and held global roles spanning operations, regulatory affairs, supply chain, and strategic network management.

“I am delighted to join Viralgen at such an important stage in its evolution,” said Angela Ochoa Chico. “Viralgen has built an outstanding reputation for scientific excellence, quality, and innovation, supported by an exceptionally talented team. I look forward to building on these strong foundations, advancing our manufacturing capabilities, and further strengthening Viralgen’s position as a trusted gene therapy manufacturing partner, guided by a clear purpose to help bring transformative therapies to the patients who need them. Over the coming months, I will work closely with Jimmy and the Viralgen team to ensure a smooth transition into the CEO role.”
